Bartlett – a walk back in time

Another professional shoot – this time it was a wedding vows renewal for a very unique and wonderful couple. The Bartletts first met and danced at a civil war reenactment – well, not the battle but after during the dancing celebration and specifically the Virginia Reel. So ten years later after falling in love and marrying, they decided to renew their vows and hold a wedding ceremony at the same annual Battle of Rasca reenactment. The ceremony happened in the evening and everyone was not only dressed up but in character. Marie is also a fabulous seamstress and made her own dress and her husband’s Union Army uniform. There were people all around and I enjoyed capturing not only the moments of the wedding but the spectators and dancers. Enjoy.

Meg – In Light of These Regrets

Meg Gourley asked me to shoot one of her rehearsals for her premier performance of In Light of These Regrets. Meg also danced in Emma’s work previously posted I Hope We Never Land. This was a wonderful experience as an observer and it reinforced my preference to do environmental portraits, some of which you see here. I love capturing faces and expressions in the moment, as you see with the dancers after the rehearsal during notes.

Emma – I hope we never Land

October 2025 I had the privilege to photograph promotional photographs for Emma’s initial performance of her original piece What of this is mine to Keep – these are both portraits of the group, as well as shots from rehearsal and the initial performance at the art gallery. Later Emma reimagined it as I hope we never land and performed with her company at the Atlanta Fringe Fest. My grandfather got on a ship as a young teen and came to America over a hundred years ago. My cousins are still there and I like to go visit. Here is 2023.

As I experiment with photography I’ve taken the time to consider how I want to approach portrait photography. I’ve only photographed friends and family. And really it’s all been personal stuff. Recently I did a workshop and was able to photograph models. Here are a few of those photographs. I’d like to do more – let me know if you would like to model.

Ναύπλιο (Nafplio)

Last year I went to visit my cousins and on the way stayed for a few days in Nafplio, Greece. It’s a beautiful and very cosmopolitan city in the Peloponnese. I stayed at a beautiful boutique hotel, what are referred to as pensions in city. The area is beautiful including Syntagmatos Sq. and downtown. It is a harbor and beach town with a ton of stores and restaurants and it’s protected by two byzantine castles. From there I visited both ancient Mycenae and the ancient theater of Epidaurus.

Πέρυσι πήγα να επισκεφτώ τα ξαδέρφια μου και καθ’ οδόν έμεινα για λίγες μέρες στο Ναύπλιο. Είναι μια όμορφη και πολύ κοσμοπολίτικη πόλη της Πελοποννήσου. Έμεινα σε ένα όμορφο boutique ξενοδοχείο, αυτό που αναφέρεται ως πανσιόν στην πόλη. Η περιοχή είναι όμορφη συμπεριλαμβανομένης της Πλατείας Συντάγματος. και στο κέντρο της πόλης. Είναι ένα λιμάνι και μια παραλιακή πόλη με πολλά καταστήματα και εστιατόρια και προστατεύεται από δύο βυζαντινά κάστρα. Από εκεί επισκέφτηκα τόσο τις αρχαίες Μυκήνες όσο και το αρχαίο θέατρο της Επιδαύρου.
